About Us

Innovative Structures, Mechanisms and Automation (ISMA) Research Group is an interdisciplinary group working in the field of deployable structures that are capable of large geometric transformations. The ISMA’s main goal is to develop novel structural systems, mechanisms and design approaches to provide morphologically flexible, mechanically simple, structurally effective and architecturally viable solutions. Focusing on several core areas such as adaptive structures, mechanism designs, automation and control systems, the ISMA‘s approach includes both theoretical and prototype-based research. By enhancing the structural synergy between the researchers from the disciplines of Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering, the ISMA pursues conducting scientific research and projects in the multi-disciplinary field.
